Several Places to Buy & Sell Legos in Bulk (Successfully)
Whether you’re looking for bundles upon bundles of Lego bricks, or looking to get rid of them yourself, there is a huge market for used and bulk Legos. People buy and sell Legos by the pound every single day on various websites and marketplaces. Today, I want to go over each one and how you can get the best price.
Lego collectors buy and sell Lego elements in bulk on online marketplaces such as Goodwill, BrickLink, eBay, and Craigslist. Alternatively, they shop at the official Lego Pick-a-Brick program. This sells individual factory-new Lego Bricks that the shopper can pick and choose.
Let’s go into further detail on each marketplace, their strengths and weaknesses, and when it makes sense to use it.
Lego Pick-a-Brick (For buyers)
Lego Pick-a-Brick offers a complete catalog of every Lego element to help you piece together whatever Lego creation you’re putting together. You can browse it for yourself at LEGO Pick a Brick.
The main benefit from shopping here is that your Lego elements will be new and guaranteed high-quality from the Lego Group. This does come, however, at a higher cost than buying secondhand Legos at Bricklink, Goodwill, Craigslist and eBay.
Bricklink, for example, has much cheaper ‘Lego 1×1 bricks’ selling for as little as $0.01 each! The same piece on Lego’s Pick a brick is $0.07 each. On Pick-a-Brick, you don’t have to buy a minimum amount of Lego elements like you do on Bricklink. Therefore, both services will be useful for buying Lego elements, depending on how many you need. If you need a few, go with Pick-a-Brick. If you need a ton, go with Bricklink.
ShopGoodWill.com (for buyers)
This is a type of marketplace that got me excited to write this article. It’s a little-known fact that you can buy items from Goodwill online. These are usually items that they don’t put out in the storefront anyway, which gives anyone shopping here a huge advantage. If you go to https://shopgoodwill.com/home and search for Lego elements, you’ll find plenty of boxes of used Legos for really cheap.
Brick Link (for buyers and sellers)
Brick link is the best spot for anyone looking to piece together a Lego set or purchase a large quantity of specific Lego elements. While it may end up being more expensive than the other options on this list, you will be able to pick the exact number of bricks you need for your project.
If you are looking to buy a large quantity of Legos for your kid or just to build in general, I would not recommend Brick Link. This site is more for individuals who need a large number of certain bricks for a large project.
On the flip side, this site is great for sellers! If you find yourself with a ton of individual Lego pieces and want to get the most for them, you can open a Brick Link store and sell them individually! It will take much longer than selling them in bulk on eBay or to your neighbors, but you’ll sell them for much more. It all depends on how rare of Lego elements you have, what themes they come from, and so on. A listing mixed Lego StarWars pieces will sell for much more than a pound of generic 2×2 bricks.

Example: “I need over 1000 1×1 and 2×2 in several colors.”
For this example, I typed in “1×1” in Bricklink’s search bar and it showed me every color available for 1×1 and all the sellers offering it. I wanted at least 1000 pieces of this Lego element, so I made the minimum quantity 1000. Bricklink works exceptionally well for buying large amounts of specific Lego pieces.

eBay (for buyers and sellers)
eBay and Craigslist are marketplaces which are better for buying Lego Lots. These are containers of half-broken Lego sets thrown together by families looking to get rid of old toys. Use this to your advantage and buy these in bulk amount to put together whatever Lego creation you’re working on. You can even flip these bricks by putting together and selling the original set or selling the parts individually.
When it comes to buying large amounts of specific pieces, you’ll save money by shopping on Bricklink or even Pick-a-Brick. eBay does sell small groups of individual lego pieces, but this will end up being much more expensive than other marketplaces due to fees and shipping.
Craigslist (for buyers)
This marketplace gives you the advantage of shopping local for big lots of secondhand Legos. Not too many people are shopping for what you’re looking for, and you don’t have to compete with the rest of the internet on this marketplace!

While it’s rare, Lego buckets can be found at yard sales for dirt cheap! Wake up early on a Saturday and take a drive looking for yard sales. If you happen to find a bucket of secondhand Legos, they will almost always be profitable to resell on eBay. Completed sets can resell for an average of 45% of their original retail price (My Study).
Even if you just find a mix of lego bricks, they can resell in groups on eBay for a pretty good amount. The buyer will pay for shipping, which makes this very profitable.
If you’re looking to sell Legos in bulk, steer clear of yard sales! They’ll sell for more money, and much easier if you sell on eBay or Bricklink.
